ProjLog- the start to something new
Well, maybe I’m starting something new.
Good evening. I’m Riley, and if you found this blog post, this is the first (real) post on the ProjLog blog page. This page was made with a few specific use cases in mind:
- The documentation of all project ideas I have, from finished to just a thought in my head.
- The creation of a “projlog rating system”, or PRS, used to rate every single project on this blog from small to large.
- As a stage for all ideas to shine, so none are left in my mind to be forgotten by the time i wake up the next morning.
Any projects uploaded as seperate pages are noteworthy in some way, shape, or form. They can be boring, like a simple documentation of computer upgrades or a obsession I have that turns into a love letter to the original media. They can also be complex and thought out, like a few completed or completely thought out projects I have on my roster. But, we can save those for later :].
As a gauge for the usefullness, I’ve created a projlog rating system, also known as PRS. This has five seperate rating systems, all going from 0 to 5, totaling a perfect score of 25. If any score on a project gets a “0”, it’s a automatic fail, and will either be posted as a warning sign for future users, or delegated to the depths of my memory. Maybe I need to implement a graveyard later.
- Complexity: 0 means a nearly impossible project with too many moving parts in planning to ever be accomplished, a 5 meaning it’s dead simple and effective.
- Uniqueness: 0 means that a project isn’t any different than something that already exists. 5 meaning that a project is virtually unheard of or extremely rare.
- Scale: 0 means a project would require too many steps to complete. 5 means that it has two or less steps.
- Budget: 0 means that a projects final price is so high that i’d need to win the lottery to complete it. 5 means it costs nothing to me, or less than $50 for you.
- Usefulness: 0 means that the project lacks any use at all. 5 means that a project is so useful it’s hard to understand why everyone doesn’t own one of these.
Hopefully every projlog post will contain a label for how far it’s completed, a PRS rating, and a decent description, with tips for any people who want to use the ideas listed. I promise to flesh out any ideas presented with enough detail to make a decent mental picture. Now, to make a example of what I’m talking about:
PROJLOG: the project
PRS: 3/5 complexity, 2/5 uniqueness, 2/5 scale, 5/5 budget, 5/5 usefulness, total 17/25.
Completion rating: uncomplete but in progress, finish date N/A
Description of project: this project starts as a personal website for Yours Truly, and can expand into both a portfolio of my projects and a personal journal. it will consist of a personal blog, and a project blog. The project blog will range from any project I create inside my head, and will contain a rating system and a completion state. The personal blog will be made of any ramblings I have about personal problems. They will stay seperate, allowing professional followers and curious creators to view my ideas without interacting with the stuff that might not pertain to them.
While I will keep things light-hearted but serious in the project log, every other blog post or page can be subject to my mood at the time of creation. so beware.
